Time Out says

The Tsukiji Shijo (market), usually just referred to as Tsukiji, holds a special place within Japan’s food culture. Until the inner market controversially moved to Toyosu in mid-October 2018, it was a grungy wonder by sheer volume and space alone – the 23 hectare market-area dealt in approximately 3000 tonnes of seafood and other creatures from the deep each day.

Although the inner market has moved, there is still plenty to see for the casual visitor at the outer market, which functions as a shopping district and retail market. Here, you'll not only find fresh fish, but also dried fish and deli-style dishes, and counters to sidle up to and enjoy freshly-made sushi. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and takeaways that can still give you the communal Tsukiji vibe of old: the inner market may have gone, but the outer market is still in business and could do with a little love.
