Arriving in July 2009, and situated in an office area relatively sparse on places to grab a bite, Poko Bagel Café specialises in Montreal-style bagels and scones, serving them from 8am. In addition to the always popular plain and sesame versions, they also play around with flavours such as a very lightly sweet chocolate chip (which may become addictive). For scones that are baked in the same oven as bagels, they are astonishingly tender and flavourful; highly recommended as an accompaniment to your afternoon tea. The shop, which has the interior of an isolated cottage, gives off the relaxed atmosphere of visiting a friend’s house. Not only does Poko Bagel Café do breakfast and lunch plates, but you can also enjoy cocktails in the evening, giving this café multi-dimensional personality.
