For its spring exhibit, Shibaura's Photo Gallery International highlights Ikko Narahara, a sharp observer of modern Japan and its extremities. As one of the country's most renowned postwar photographers, Narahara's work has been displayed extensively in Tokyo over the past years, but this exhibit takes things in a slightly different direction with its focus on 'Zen'. One of the eight series comprising 'Japanesque', an extensive project undertaken by Narahara after his 1965 return from Paris, it documents the life of monks at Yokohama's Soji Temple, one of the Soto Zen school's central sites.
