The latest innovation in strawberry development (yes, you read that right) to come out of Tochigi Prefecture, Japan's number one strawberry region and home of the famed Tochiotome variety, the Sky Berry is supposed to rival Fukuoka's Amao in both sweetness and size. Marketing talk aside, you can now try the newcomer yourself at Patisserie Kihachi shops across Tokyo, as nine kinds of cakes made with this wonder berry will be on sale from mid-February to early March. Unsurprisingly, these goodies don't exactly come cheap – Sky Berry Tarts are ¥670, while you'll need to fork out ¥2,268 for a whole cake roll.
