Time Out says

Tokyo Midtown is looking very festive for Christmas this year, with tall, cylindrical ‘gold trees’ lined up along the 80m-long walkway in front of 21_21 Design Sight. While these steely rods look like golden sculptures during the day, in the evening they get illuminated in colourful lights and put on a four-minute show with smoke and synchronised music. The trees flanking the street at Midtown Garden Plaza are also decked out in champagne gold lights.

Instead of a conventional Christmas tree, Tokyo Midtown is opting for sustainable ones instead, which you’ll find at the first-floor plaza. These conical creations, the brainchild of landscape design company Solso, are made up of branches taken from pruning zelkova, cherry and ginkgo trees, arranged onto a recyclable stainless steel base frame.

There are more festive lights in Tokyo Midtown, including a chandelier-like installation inspired by icicles. For those looking to get active, the shopping centre has put up an ice skating rink until Febuary 25.

The lights at Tokyo Midtown come on daily from 5.04pm to 11pm.
